In "A Hot and Cool Lab", the students tested to see if the temperature of water would rise past 100ºC if they continued adding heat. Likewise, they tested if liquid water would get colder than 0º C - and stay liquid - if they continued removing heat.
(To explain their clothing, the day of this lab was "Clash Day" for Red Ribbon Week. These kids usually have a much better fashion sense!)

In the lab "A Sugar Cube Race", the students had to determine how long it takes a sugar cube to dissolve in tap water. Then they had to change one variable - of their own choosing - to try to speed up the process. The next step, time permitting, was to either try a different variable, or combine variables. These are the only pictures I got of this lab.
Amanda and Jamie investigate the effects of vinegar and baking soda on a sugar cube. |
Caity, Mara, and Amy get a little wild! |

In "White Before Your Eyes", the students had to mix some powders with some liquids, and classify the results as either physical or chemical changes.
Matt and Keith have a little fun before getting down to work. |
